Our Practice

Russell Veterinary Hospital, P.C. at 1276 Route 957 in Russell, PA, was founded by Dr. Patrick S. Farrell on April 1, 1990 to serve the greater Warren County and Chautauqua County communities as a full service Veterinary Medical hospital facility. The medical practice welcomes “all creatures great and small.” In February of 2017 in order to better serve our Chautauqua County clients we opened Lakeside Veterinary Medicine at 976 Fairmount Ave in Jamestown, NY which is a fully owned and operated satellite medical facility of Russell Veterinary Hospital, P.C.

Hospital business partners Dr. Patrick Farrell and Dr. Brooke Harkness Imus lead our Associate DVM’s. They are very experienced in the care of the animals in our community and are completely dedicated to providing compassionate, cutting edge health care. Our commitment to continuing education results in a hospital team that works daily to exceed the standard of care expected at a modern, contemporary medical facility. All of the Drs and staff that you have come to know are available to assist with your veterinary medical needs at both of our locations. Our “cloud based” electronic medical records are available at both hospitals at all times which makes it easy to choose whichever location is most convenient to visit.

The hospitals have modern and fully equipped laboratories, imaging departments that include digital radiography, ultrasonography (and echocardiography) with color flow doppler, and endoscopy. Our dental suites have digital dental radiography and a full array of equipment for dental surgical needs. Our operating rooms are fully equipped to manage a busy caseload of orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, oncologic (cancer), ophthalmic, ENT and thoracic surgical procedures.

At our Russell, PA facility, we have large animal medical facilities that care for hospitalized dairy cattle, horses and other farm and exotic species. We have a large animal imaging suite with digital radiology, ultrasonography and endoscopy. Equine lameness exams and prepurchase exams with required digital radiographs are readily available at our Russell, PA facility.   The ambulatory portion of our medical practice cares for farm species as well, as a small zoo collection, thus allowing for referral to the hospital facilities for more advanced care of these larger animals when required.   Much of our farm call practice is dedicated to Dairy Herd Health on local dairy farms, as well as Dairy Health Management Consulting to producers around the United States. Dr. Farrell leads our dairy consulting program and provides assistance to dairy farms that milk 60-6000 head.
